Energy Cooperative Boekelermeer Receives €25,000 to Support Its Development

Energy Cooperative Boekelermeer has received a €25,000 cheque from Rabobank to further develop collaboration among companies in the Boekelermeer industrial

area. The cheque was handed over during a meeting at Sarawak’s office in Alkmaar, where the cooperative also proudly launched its new website, that you can find here.

The initiative originates from the REFORMERS project, which played a central role in bringing local companies together to

explore collective energy solutions.

A huge milestone for Boekelermeer

A key element in developing a self-sustaining energy valley, one that continues to thrive beyond the project’s duration, is encouraging and empowering

local initiatives. It is therefore particularly promising to see not only Rabobank but also the local business association and regional authorities recognise

the importance of collaborative efforts and provide financial support. The participating companies are now taking the lead in developing the cooperation,

with the ambition to grow their membership and jointly address the challenges of the energy transition.

Benefits of this contribution

Rabobank’s contribution will support research and development of a collective energy strategy, enabling companies to better coordinate their energy use,

local generation, and flexibility, ultimately helping to alleviate pressure on the electricity grid. Initiatives like these are expected to play an increasingly

important role in the future energy system, helping companies make smarter use of existing grid infrastructure and assets, and accelerating the shift to

sustainable energy.
